Jay McGuffin(bassist) is currently teaching music in Douglas County School District (since 2002) at Castle View High School and Castle Rock Middle School. He is the Director of Orchestras and also the guitar instructor. In addition, he also serves has the Orchestra Pit Director for all musicals since 2015. The Castle View High School Theatre Company has received 10 Bobby G nominations in the last 2 years, winning 6 awards total including Outstanding Musical Direction (2018, Les Miserables) and Overall Best Production of a Musical (2019, Mamma Mia!) Jay has directed several musicals including the aforementioned and most recently “Chicago”. In Total, he has performed in and/or directed over 50 shows in his career. In 2020, the Castle View Chamber Orchestra was nominated to the State Orchestra Finals held by ASTA. Jay began his professional career at the age of 13. During that time, he has performed with Frank Finelli, William “Bug” Barbie, Dave Grusin, the Brubeck Brothers and Itzhak Perlman. In addition, Jay has been a member of the Double McGuffin Band on Bass and Vocals since 2002, performing regularly with his father since 2005 and has been the leader of the group since 2008. He also performs in several music groups across the Front Range including acting Principal Bassist of The Chamber Orchestra of the Springs. In his free time, Jay enjoys spending time with his wife Stephanie and son Michael in the garden and out on the lake.
